Luxury Wild Life Safari to Tanzania 18 - 27 Feb 2012

OVERVIEW

Experience the diversity of Africa's wildlife in Tanzania. Wedged between Kenya to the north and Mozambique to the south, hard on the Indian Ocean, Tanzania has been blessedly untroubled by the strife that has racked so much of the continent. Tanzania is regarded by most explorers and travelers as the most beautiful safari country in Africa. From the wildlife parks of which the expansive Serengeti is greatly esteemed and the great migration is one of the world's great wildlife spectacles, to the glamourous and scenic caldera of the Ngorongoro Crater which is home to one of Tanzania's most opulent lodge, the Ngorongoro Crater Lodge and non-migratory animals, the riverine elephants of Tarangire and its centuries-old baobab trees, Lake Manyara's famous tree-climbing lions, and further to include the romantic islands of the Zanzibar archipelago.

Tanzania, the largest country in East Africa, includes the spice islands of Zanzibar, Pemba, and Mafia and contains Africa's highest point—Kilimanjaro, at 5,895 meters (19,340 feet). Kilimanjaro, a dormant volcano, is snowcapped even though it is near the Equator. The African population consists of more than 120 ethnic groups. Dar es Salaam is the administrative capital, but Dodoma is the designated future capital and current home to Tanzania's legislature.

Tanzania's currency is the Tanzania Shilling (TZS). The country is 2.30 hrs behind Indian Standard Time. The official language of Tanzania is Swahili and buisness language is English, but both Swahili and English are widely spoken with other localised languages and dialects like Arabic (widely spoken in Zanzibar).

Tanzania has more land devoted to national parks and game reserves than any other wildlife destination in the world. Everything from pristine coral reefs to the Crater Highlands, remote game reserves and the famous national parks are protected by government law and placed in trust for future generations to marvel at in wonder and awe.

CLIMATE
Just south of the equator, Tanzania is huge and its sheer size means that the climate varies considerably within it. Main rainy season lasts during about mid-March to May. The humidity is high and daily temperatures reach the low-mid 30°s. The long dry season lasts throughout June, July, August, September and October is when rainfall is unusual - it's usually a fine, clear sky and sunny weather, it's a great time to visit Tanzania. During November to mid-January there's another rainy season: the 'short rains'. These are much lighter than the main rains and less reliable. January and February, which is Tanzania's short dry season.

FOOD
The famous local dishes of Tanzanian are Ugali (a porridge made by boiling cornmeal) and nyama choma (grilled meat). International cuisine such as Chinese, French, Indian, Pakistani, Continental, Malaysian, Mexican, Thai, American and Italian are easily available in the hotels and resturants. There are some famous Indian restaurant there like Little India, Aclove, Hurry Curry.

WILDLIFE
Tanzania safaris and tours are both intriguing and exciting, created by a fascinating balance between the wildlife, the stunning landscapes and the friendly Tanzanian people. Tanzania's northern safari circuit, is renowned for offering some of the finest wildlife viewing holidays and tours in Africa. They offer attraction of the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino) with the famous tree-climbing Lions and pythons. These, together with many other animals that are unique to Africa, can be seen at the national parks and game reserves throughout Tanzania.
